My god this is why you need to watch all teachers all across the board. I use a DDJ-400 and never scratch but watch your tutorials anyways because you’re a great DJ and excellent teacher. I never found a vid explaining the 1/8th and 1/6th count for acapellas, thanks!

Dj Liftoff has taken me to a place I never thought I would be. His tutorials are PHENOMENAL! Watch ALL he has from novice to advance. Your skills will come to life but there's one thing that liftoff says which is a must, PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE.

How to Pace Yourself in this Course
This scratch course is not meant to be watched all in one day. Scratching takes time, consistency, and a lot of practice. The goal isn't to rush and finish the course, but rather to truly become comfortable with the scratch techniques and being intentional before moving on to the next lesson. Your practice schedule will be extremely important. The recommendation is to practice 4-5x per week for at least 20 minutes, especially if you're an absolute beginner.
Equipment Used in lessons
In the vast majority of this course, I will be using the following pieces of equipment:
- Rane Twelve Turntable (2)
- Pioneer DJ-SM9 Mixer
There are a few lessons where I incorporate the use of a Pioneer DDJ Rev 1 Controller to better help DJs learning how to scratch on a controller. Although I recommend absolute beginners learn how to scratch using motorized platters, do not be discouraged and think you cannot learn how to scratch extremely well using a controller. All of the concepts and movements in this scratch course are identical no matter what type of equipment you're using.
